ACERNOTE LIGHT 350PC LAPTOP

Finding information and software for this nice little laptop was a real pain, so I've compiled everything I've found out about it on this page. Let me know if you have something I don't!

RESOURCES:

  • AcerNote Light 350P User Manual/Guide (944kB - PDF)
  • AcerNote Light 350P Specifications & Motherboard Info (25kB - PDF)
  • UPGRADE POTENTIAL:

As far as I know, only the RAM, CPU, and Hard Drive can be upgraded. Details below:

    R A M

There are 2 RAM banks allowing for a maximum of 2 x 16MB (3.3V or 5V, not sure) RAM. This memory seems very hard to find these days. If you find cheap 16MB RAM for this laptop please let me know.

I've been able to get it up to 233MHz by using a Pentium 233 MMX CPU. MMX is recognised! Someone else was able to get 200MHz, click here to see his message from Usenet:

The table below are the results I got while playing around with the dip switches marked SW2 which you find just to the left of the RAM sockets. The first results are with a 200MHz Intel Pentium Classic (SY045) model.

All other 8 dip switch settings resulted in the computer not booting. It seems that whenever dip switch 2 is ON the computer doesn't boot.

I've currently got an 800MB 12.5mm HD but I've been told that a 6GB HITACHI DK23AA-60 works fine. Anyone have anything bigger?

    AC POWER ADAPTER

    Lost your power adapter?

No problem, it is easy to find one from an electronics shop or the internet. Just ask for a 20V 1.7A adapter with a 5.5mm diameter barrel plug. Positive inside so that means a negative (ground) outside.

Just click on the image to the left for a bigger size.

NOTE: If I remember correctly, this is not the original adapter that came with my laptop but I think it's made by the same company and it works fine.

WANTED! I'm still looking for the service manual / technical guide for the motherboard. I'd like to find out exactly what dip switches SW1 and SW2 do. Please contact me if you have this. Thanks!
